2006 Patriot League Women's Tennis Academic Honor RollDownload Free Acrobat Reader
Center Valley, Pa. - American's Julia Colarusso was named the 2006 Patriot League Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year and is one of 28 student-athletes on this year's academic honor roll, announced Executive Director Carolyn Schlie Femovich Tuesday. Colarusso was also one of two honor roll members to earn a perfect 4.00 grade-point average during the spring semester, with the other being Lafayette's Sarah Sykes.
Colarusso holds down a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average, while majoring in Spanish and Latin American Studies. She was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic At-Large District II team.
As the Eagles' No. 1 singles and doubles player, Colarusso posted a 10-4 (2-3 Patriot League) record in singles play and an 8-4 (5-0 Patriot League) mark in doubles competition. The veteran Eagle earned First-Team All-Patriot League status in 2006.
Colarusso joins Olga Mikhailova (2002) and Katarina Kollarova (2003 and 2004) as American's recipients of the Patriot League Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League's six winter or 10 spring championship sports.
A total of 974 student-athletes were named to the Patriot League's Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll, which includes the sports of men and women's basketball, men and women's swimming and diving, men and women's indoor track and field, baseball, golf, men and women's lacrosse, rowing, men and women's outdoor track and field, softball and men and women's tennis.
